Privacy Policy for Latency Lab

Last Updated: March 15, 2026

This Privacy Policy describes how Latency Lab handles information when you use the App. Latency Lab is a companion application for Discord-based sports bots, providing real-time game event updates via a relay connection.

By using Latency Lab, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy.

Information We Collect

Latency Lab collects and processes a minimal amount of information, limited to what is necessary for the App to function:

  • Authentication Token — A one-time token provided to you by a Discord bot owner. Contains a username and team identifier used to establish your relay session.
  • Username — Extracted from your authentication token and used only to identify your active session on the relay server.
  • WebSocket Connection Data — Basic connection metadata (such as connection timestamps) required to maintain the real-time relay session.
  • Push Notification Token — If you grant notification permissions, the App registers an Expo push notification token. Used solely to deliver game-related notifications. Stored server-side with a 90-day expiration and automatically pruned after that period.
  • Demo Session Analytics — If you access via a demo token, the App sends periodic heartbeat signals indicating which screen you are viewing. The server aggregates this into anonymous session-level metrics. No personal information is included.

Information We Do Not Collect

Latency Lab does not collect, access, or process any of the following:

  • Personal information (real name, email, phone number, mailing address)
  • Location or GPS data
  • Contacts, photos, or media files
  • Microphone or camera input
  • Device identifiers for advertising or tracking
  • Browsing history
  • Financial or payment information

The App does not use any advertising networks or third-party SDKs that collect user data for advertising.

How We Use Your Information

The limited information described above is used solely to:

  • Authenticate your session with the relay server
  • Maintain an active WebSocket connection for real-time game events
  • Display your username within the relay session
  • Deliver push notifications for game events (if permissions granted)
  • Track aggregate demo session engagement metrics (demo users only)

We do not use your information for marketing, profiling, advertising, or any purpose beyond delivering the core functionality of the App.

Security Measures

The App employs a forensic watermark overlay during relay sessions. This watermark encodes a non-reversible hash derived from your authentication token, combined with the team identifier and date. It is used solely to deter unauthorized redistribution of live relay content and cannot be used to extract personal information.

Data Retention

  • Authentication tokens expire within 24 hours (or the configured period for demo tokens) and are not stored beyond their validity period.
  • Session data exists only during your active WebSocket connection and is discarded on disconnect.
  • Push notification tokens are stored for up to 90 days and automatically removed after expiration.
  • Demo session analytics are retained for the duration of the demo token's validity period.

Data Storage and Security

Session data is processed on a relay server maintained by the Developer. We use WebSocket Secure (WSS) connections to protect data in transit. No personal data is persisted beyond the active session.

Third-Party Services

Latency Lab uses:

  • Expo Push Notifications — Push tokens are transmitted to Expo's push notification service. No other user data is shared with Expo.

The App does not integrate any third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking services.

Account Creation

Latency Lab does not require or support account creation. Access is granted through one-time authentication tokens.

Children's Privacy

Latency Lab is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have rights regarding your personal data. Because Latency Lab does not store personal data beyond active sessions, there is generally no persistent data to access, modify, or delete. Contact us with questions.

Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected by updating the "Last Updated" date. Your continued use of the App constitutes acceptance of the updated Privacy Policy.
